Independent Bookselling for Independent Minds
With the further relaxation of COVID restrictions, we just wanted to keep you informed about how this will affect your visits to us here at Cogito.
As always, our aim is to make your visit to the bookshop as relaxing, pleasant, and as safe as possible. So, with this in mind we’ve taken the decision that as a team we will all continue to wear face visors in addition to having hand sanitiser available for use by booksellers and customers. Although, under the new guidelines it’s no longer mandatory for customers to wear face coverings in shops, we’ll be continuing to recommend that you do so while you’re inside the bookshop. We’ll also still be monitoring how many customers we have in the shop at any one time in order that everyone feels they have sufficient space to browse comfortably.
We appreciate that each individual’s circumstances are different and that this will influence their conduct and perception of their own safety. We believe that it is vitally important that we respect the feelings of all members of our book loving community, especially the most vulnerable and those still awaiting their vaccinations. We hope that by continuing these practices, which we’ve had in place since reopening in April, we’ll be able to keep browsing pleasurable for all.
It’s brilliant having people back inside the bookshop; browsing our lovely new displays and chatting with us about wonderful books and recommendations. As many of you will already be aware, we’ve made some permanent changes to our opening hours since the beginning of the year; we’re now open Tuesday – Saturday, 9am to 5.30pm.
Please do rest assured that if you’re unable to get to the shop at present, we’re still here on the phone; you can contact us on 01434 602555 and we’re still able to offer a postal service (as well as delivery in Hexham).
There are a whole range of brilliant reads to inspire you here on our website and lots more bookish activity on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Do sign up to our email newsletter mailing list below if you’d like to get updates and other bookish news.
